Dear John,
When we learned that there would be a special #GivingTuesdayNow to support nonprofits during this time, I was torn as to whether or not to participate. So many organizations have stepped up to support our fellow Texans — the last thing I want is to hamper their ability to support their respective communities.
What is clear, however, is that Texans Care for Children must continue to lead and fight to ensure policymakers do all they can to support nonprofits, essential workers, and families all across our state. This #GivingTuesdayNow, I ask that you consider supporting Texans Care for Children and the other nonprofits working to hold our communities together through these difficult times.

Families are facing financial instability, parents are struggling to keep food on the table, essential workers need access to high-quality child care to continue working on the front lines — the impact of COVID-19 is too big for any one organization to solve. Right now, strong advocacy at the state and federal levels matters more than ever so that families across Texas can weather the crisis, get back to work, and raise healthy kids.
We are in regular communication with community organizations across the state to understand the latest on the impact of the coronavirus. We're helping coordinate statewide efforts to increase access to high-quality child care for essential workers. We have called on Governor Greg Abbott to ensure families of babies and toddlers with disabilities receive the ECI services they need using telehealth. We continue to fight to expand Medicaid coverage for pregnant women and new moms to ensure no disruption in their care. And we are holding our state accountable to ensure children in the CPS system are safe and have what they need to thrive. I'm proud of the steps we have taken, but there is still so much more we need to do. Your support this #GivingTuesdayNow will help us get there.
I appreciate your consideration, and if you would like to know more about how we’re working to improve the lives of Texas children today for a stronger Texas tomorrow, please feel free to email me (mailto:
