CALVERT BILL PASSED BY THE HOUSE

Image

Good news! This week, the House of Representatives passed my bipartisan bill, the Stuck On Hold Act, to require the Veterans Administration to implement an improved customer service phone system that informs callers of their estimated wait times and, if the wait is estimated to be longer than 10 minutes, to give the caller the option of receiving an automated call back when it is their turn in line. Our veterans deserve the best treatment possible when utilizing the benefits they earned by serving our country. The passage of the Stuck on Hold Act is just one step in our ongoing attempt to honor our commitment to America's veterans.

I want to thank all of the students and parents who attended our annual Military Academy Night earlier this week in Lake Elsinore. I appreciate all of the representatives from our service academies who participated to provide information about the opportunities these institutions provide young Americans. If you are a high school student in the 41st District who is interested in attending an academy please contact my office.

The Department of State's Online Passport Renewal (OPR) system is now available to the American public 24/7. Millions of Americans can now renew their passports online at their convenience and from the comfort of their own homes. OPR is a secure and paperless process that makes it easier for Americans to renew their passports by eliminating the need to print a paper application, use a check, and physically mail their application. The OPR system available at Travel.State.Gov/renewonline.
