John,
The Republican Party of Texas (RPT) wrapped up our #RPTServes Volunteer Week
and we wanted to share the various efforts Republicans across the state stepped
up to serve their communities. Thank you to everyone who joined us in
#RPTServes Volunteer Week. We are grateful to see the Lone Star State coming
together during the most trying times.
Here are just a few examples of the incredible efforts by Texas Republicans
who are working to help their communities overcome the challenges presented by
the Coronavirus pandemic:
Senator John Cornyn kicked off the week with a video encouraging fellow Texans
to get involved. <[link removed]> He followed that
up by making a$25,000 donation to Feeding Texas
<[link removed]> - a system of food
banks that reaches families and individuals in each of Texas’ 254 counties. His
generous donation along with his leadership in the Senate is vital for helping
Texas families overcome the Coronavirus pandemic. We are thankful for his
continued for and dedication to helping Texans!
RPT’s State Republican Executive Committee (SREC) members donated much-needed
baby items <[link removed]> to the
Grace House—a pregnancy center in Weatherford, TX. This ministry strives to
promote hope, life, and knowledge in the community through The Options Clinic,
Grace House Pregnancy Center, and their Pure Truth in-school training program.
Items collected at the May 2 SREC meeting will go to help mothers and babies in
need in the Parker County area. We appreciate all of our SREC members who
stepped up to help organizations as well as young mothers and children in need.
State Representative Gary Gates distributed free care packages
<[link removed]> to those in need
in House District 28. Over 5,000 families throughout the district were provided
with essential and preventative supplies. Representative Gates set aside his
campaign to focus on his community recovering because of his deep love and
dedication to his community. We are thankful for all that Representative Gates
has and continues to help during this difficult time!
Pharmacist Will Douglas, candidate for Texas House District 113, wasted no
time and started producing much needed hand sanitizer and delivering it tohome
health organizations
<[link removed]>, the Seagoville
Police Department <[link removed]>
, theRowlett Fire Department
<[link removed]>, and the Rowlett
Police Department <[link removed]>
. His support for the community and the first responders who serve it is
incredible to see! This is the type of initiative and leadership Texans need in
the Texas House.
Jacey Jetton, candidate for House District 26 stepped up in a big way by
volunteering with the Ismaili Jamatkhana Center food bank
<[link removed]> for several days.
He showed the desperate need for food when they ran out of food afterserving
800 people in under one hour
<[link removed]>. We appreciate his
dedication to his community during this difficult time!
Martha Fierro, candidate for House District 145, is working for her community
<[link removed]> and reaching
out to her neighbors. It is only by working together as one that we will be
able to not just overcome Coronavirus but become stronger. Thank you Martha
Fierro for working hard for HD 145!
Texas Young Republican Policy Director Jason Vaughn helped pregnancy centers
<[link removed]> receive vital
needs through their Amazon Wishlist. Even if it seems small, it can have an
enormous impact on the lives of those who are struggling right now. Thank you
Jason for your work!
Denton County Republicans and SREC members Jill Glover and David Halvorson
supported <[link removed]> two local
food banks and Mission Moms who feed hungry children who are not able to get
food they rely on from school. There are so many in need during the Coronavirus
pandemic and these acts of service make a huge difference! In nearby Tarrant
County, GOP precinct chair Jesse Taylor worked with Gerald Kern of the
Community Food Bank in Ft. Worth to distribute food to more than 500 area
families daily.
Republicans have undoubtedly united to set an example of service for their
communities. Thank you to all who participated in helping others overcome this
difficult time. We will overcome the Coronavirus pandemic by working together
and helping our neighbors. While #RPTServes Volunteer Week has concluded, the
efforts to help our fellow Texans during this difficult time has not. If you
