The vice president of law and policy at the Voting Rights Lab has come out and said it -- voting rights experts expect to see continued attempts to restrict voting and the activities of voter outreach groups in states controlled by opponents of voting rights.
“ The effort to target third-party voter registration groups is just, unfortunately, one of many policy areas that state legislatures are moving to address ,” she said.
We can't do our work without your help, and we can't push back alone. RUSH $25 or more right now to fight these suppressive laws and make sure eligible voters are able to register >> [[link removed]]

AP: Voter outreach groups targeted by new laws in several GOP-led states are struggling to do their work [[link removed]]
John: if you've been with us for a while, you know all about the voter suppression laws passed in states like Florida, Georgia, Texas, and more.
Among the new, suppressive restrictions on drop boxes, mail-in voting, line warming, and other tools that help people vote came another -- tight restrictions on 3rd party groups like ours that help register new voters and deep penalties against 3rd party voter registration groups for their work.
The bad news? It's working . Florida's law in particular has curtailed pro-voter organizations from hiring staff and helping people register to vote. It's also led to a downturn in their fundraising, making it harder for them to do their other work to defend voting rights.
Instead of coordinating volunteers to go door-to-door ahead of the election or sending them to events around these states to help register eligible voters, organizations like ours are stuck trying to figure out how to help people vote without incurring $250,000 fines. It's plainly unacceptable.
John: We fight back against these laws in states like Florida, Kansas, Missouri, Georgia, and more. Pitch in $25 or whatever you can today to defend the right to vote and help push back against these laws in the courts >> [[link removed]]

Don't believe us? Just look at these key pieces of Florida's 2023 voter suppression law: [[link removed]]
➜ New restrictions on mail-in voting
➜ New legal limits on organizations that help register new voters
➜ Onerous new restrictions for first-time voters
➜ New requirements for "voter list maintenance" (which is code for scrubbing the voter rolls)
The NAACP Florida State Conference argued that these measures “ make it harder for Floridians to register and vote, and undermine Florida’s election administration .” The president of the League of Women Voters in Florida said the law stripped the personal connection between its workers and communities.
One of the leaders of MOVE Texas, another voting rights group, said “ The [Texas] law contributed to this culture of fear in our elections and being a person who registers voters .”
Our democracy depends on the people voting, not being frightened away . It's up to us to make sure we can all vote and make our voices heard.
Stand up and chip in $25 or whatever you can today to fight these anti-democratic state laws and make every vote count in our elections! >> [[link removed]]
