Dear A.,

The IDF confirmed this morning that Hezbollah's leader, Hassan Nasrallah, was killed in Israel’s targeted strike in Beirut yesterday.

Nasrallah was responsible for killing hundreds of Americans and Israelis. His death, like Bin Laden's in 2011, brings an arch terrorist to justice.

Nasrallah has been a central figure in Hezbollah for more than 40 years. Under his leadership, Hezbollah has orchestrated terror attacks around the world, coordinated wars against Israel – including the last 11 months of sustained rocket and drone attacks – aided in Assad's massacres in Syria, and acquired a weapons arsenal that rivals or exceeds most nations.

Nasrallah maintained a close relationship with the Iranian regime, which has provided him with billions in funding and helped make Hezbollah the most well-armed terror group in the world.

Over the last several months, Israeli intelligence services and military have carried out a series of remarkable operations that have eliminated virtually the entire Hezbollah senior leadership, even as the terrorist organization has refused to cease its near-daily attacks on the Jewish state.

Like Bin Laden, the intelligence required to find, track, and kill Nasrallah was a tremendous effort and achievement. His killing sends a strong message to the region and Iran about Israel's reach and capabilities.

The administration and members of Congress from both sides of the aisle have praised Israel's bold action to kill this common enemy of America and Israel.

"Hassan Nasrallah and the terrorist group he led, Hezbollah, were responsible for killing hundreds of Americans over a four-decade reign of terror. His death from an Israeli airstrike is a measure of justice for his many victims, including thousands of Americans, Israelis, and Lebanese civilians," the White House

said in a statement. "The United States fully supports Israel’s right to defend itself against Hezbollah, Hamas, the Houthis, and any other Iranian-supported terrorist groups."

"Hezbollah has the blood of hundreds of Americans on its hands. The world is safer and better off without Nasrallah’s terrorism and oppression, and I will continue to support Israel’s right to defend itself against terrorism." Senate Majority Leader Chuck Schumer (D-NY)

said . "The United States and its partners must maintain efforts to ensure Israel’s security, deter and prevent Iranian-backed actors from expanding this conflict, and pursue regional stability."

"Like Mugniyah and Soleimani before him, Hassan Nasrallah authored decades of terror and suffering across the Middle East. Israelis, Americans, Lebanese, and Syrians are safer without him on the battlefield," Senate Republican Leader Mitch McConnell (R-KY)

said . "America should heed this reminder of what it means to impose costs and justice on those who wish us harm."

Following the strike, Israel called for Lebanese civilians to evacuate specific buildings across the country that were used as storage facilities for sophisticated Hezbollah munitions. The Air Force proceeded to destroy those buildings in the hours since.
