Dear Friends,

On this Giving Tuesday, we are working to build a more inclusive reality in Canada and we need your help.

Our research has shown that the COVID-19 pandemic has been especially challenging for the LGBTQI2S community. Today, we are asking you to make a monthly commitment to Egale, as we support the LGBTQI2S community through this crisis and work to build a more inclusive post-COVID Canada.

Early in the pandemic, Egale mobilized quickly to advocate all levels of government provide stronger support for our community, both now and in post-COVID recovery. I am meeting regularly with various government bodies, businesses and organizations to demand that the priorities identified by the community are amplified in plans for economic and social rebuilding.

Our vision is a Canada free from all forms of oppression, where everyone can live freely regardless of sexual orientation, gender identity or expression. Together, we can raise our voices to rebuild a stronger, freer and more inclusive country.

Become a monthly donor today, or make a one-time donation to ensure that we get through this crisis together.

We are here for you, and together, we are here for the community.

Thank you again for your ongoing dedication and support. We will get through this together, by supporting one another.

Take good care,

Helen Kennedy

LGBTQI2S people are less optimistic than the general public about their ability to rebound successfully from this pandemic.

We cannot let our community get left behind as we move forward as a country.

Members of the community are facing increased mental and physical impacts from the virus. For mental health, 42% of LGBTQI2S respondents reported significant mental health  impacts compared to 30% nationally.

We need enhanced supports as we rebuild socially.

LGBTQI2S people are experiencing a greater number of employment disruptions, such as lay-offs and hour reductions due to COVID-19. Over 53% of LGBTQI2S housholds have experienced losses, compared to 39% of households nationally.

This must be addressed in economic recovery plans.
