Dear Friend,

Accurate information can be life-saving.

As we produce Democracy Now! from New York City, the epicenter of the COVID-19 pandemic, we consider it our sacred duty to bring you frontline voices from around the world, telling the truth about what's happening on the ground.

Now more than ever, we need Democracy Now! to make sure the world sees the horror—and the heroes—of this crisis. But we can't do our work without you.

Today, on #GivingTuesdayNow, a day dedicated to supporting nonprofits during the pandemic, a generous donor will TRIPLE every donation to Democracy Now! That means your gift will go three times as far.
DONATE TODAY & TRIPLE YOUR IMPACT!
This is a difficult time for us all, but if you're able support Democracy Now! with a donation, please do so today.

For months now, my colleagues and I have been working day and night to bring you the latest news on the COVID-19 pandemic, all while we practice social distancing and help to reduce community spread.

Most of our staff have been working remotely since early March, from our TV producers, who are playing out video from the safety of their homes, to my co-hosts Juan González and Nermeen Shaikh, who join me every week via Skype.

Since the pandemic broke out in the United States, our website traffic has gone through the roof, showing us just how hungry people are for fearless, truth-seeking, independent journalism—one of the most powerful tools we have in society.

Help us continue to bring you the news you count on every day by making your contribution right now.
DONATE TODAY & TRIPLE YOUR IMPACT!
If you make your donation before midnight tonight, it will be triple-matched through our special #GivingTuesdayNow offer.
Democracy Now! connects the dots between the novel coronavirus pandemic and scores of issues—from Medicare for All and paid sick leave to immigration, mass incarceration and police brutality, workers' rights and the climate crisis.

We recently interviewed Dr. Armen Henderson, an African American doctor who was detained and handcuffed by a police officer outside his home as he was wearing a mask and preparing for a volunteer shift to test unhoused people for COVID-19. The officer himself was not wearing a mask.

"I want the officer held accountable," Dr. Henderson said on Democracy Now! "But outside of that, I think the bigger picture is that I was going to serve homeless individuals throughout Miami-Dade County. It's supposed to be the city and the county's job to do this ... especially in a pandemic."
If voices like Dr. Henderson's are important to you, please contribute to Democracy Now! today.

Today, we spoke to Dr. Michelle Tom, a member of the Navajo Nation and family physician who is treating COVID-19 patients at hospitals in Arizona near the Navajo reservation. The Navajo Nation has been hard hit by the novel coronavirus, with the highest number of infections per capita after New York and New Jersey.
Donate today and your gift will be tripled!
Dr. Tom talked about why the infection rate is so high in the Navajo Nation, saying, "Our infrastructure for water has never been at the capacity where we can provide water for everyone on the reservation. So you're telling people to wash their hands for 20 seconds, and yet people are trying to get water just to drink and cook with. We're struggling with clean water in general."
If stories like this one are important to you, please contribute to Democracy Now! today.

Last week, on the 50th anniversary of Earth Day, we interviewed Kumi Naidoo, former secretary general of Amnesty International and former head of Greenpeace, about the impact of the pandemic on Africa and the intersecting issues of COVID-19, hunger and the climate crisis in Africa and around the world.
Triple your impact—donate today!
"We have to understand the crisis that we’re in is a multifaceted crisis. It’s a crisis of poverty, hunger, human rights and, of course, climate and environment. Humanity must take a hard look at ourselves about whether we want to build back after corona exactly what we had, or if we want to build back a more equitable, more just and a more sustainable world," Naidoo said.
If issues like the climate crisis and wealth inequity are important to you, please contribute to Democracy Now! today.
Remember, your tax-deductible donation today will be worth THREE TIMES as much—so please be as generous as you can.
