John, this year’s hurricane season isn't over yet. Hurricane Helene struck Florida with a Category 4 hurricane this week, and the damage is extensive.
Right now, children in Florida’s Gulf Coast are reeling from the catastrophic impact of this crisis. This same time last year, Hurricane Otis struck 11-year-old Ailec’s* hometown of Guerrero, Mexico, tearing apart her community and disrupting her education indefinitely.
For kids like Ailec, the destruction of homes and schools leaves them with nothing but uncertain futures. And when compounding hardships like hunger, conflict and poverty are thrown into the mix, life becomes that much harder.
Save the Children and our partners are there after destructive weather events like hurricanes, making sure children and families have what they need to rebuild their lives – with the help of our generous supporters. And as we work to help children impacted by Hurricane Helene and other crises, we’re counting on at least 1,000 gifts by midnight so we can be prepared to support children in this moment and beyond.
Your financial support can help restore communities in Florida and beyond so that children have a home to return to and a school to attend.
Thank you for playing such a vital role in this life-changing work.
