I knew I’d be the underdog in my Senate race, but with my opponent being flooded with support from the national Democratic machine, this race is even tougher.
In fact the DNC just announced they are transferring a last-minute $75,000 to the Maryland Democratic Party to try and further boost my opponent.
And that’s on top of the $250,000 they’ve already poured into the race!
Now, polls have my race TIED, voting is already underway, and I have just 2 days left to reach my FINAL FEC end-of-quarter deadline before Election Day.
Here’s the truth: We need your immediate support in the most consequential period of this race–the final stretch before Election Day.
The polls show a tight race, but my opponent and her allies have launched nonstop political attacks to try and crush any momentum we build. They never expected to have to work this hard in a deep-blue state like Maryland, and now they are in panic mode.
The closer we get to Election Day, we are sure to see even more negative–and false–political attacks thrown our way.
In order to have a real chance of ending the partisan division and returning strong, independent leadership to Washington, we need to push back NOW.
Reaching our fundraising goal before my FINAL FEC end-of-quarter fundraising deadline is the best chance we have to build critical resources that will help us combat the constant partisan political attacks from my opponent.
The only way we can win this razor-thin race is if we are able to fully fund our get out the vote effort during the last stretch of my campaign. This vote will come down to every last voter, and we can’t stop until we reach them all and cross the finish line.
Look, I know most Americans are thoroughly convinced that we are hopelessly divided, that Washington is completely dysfunctional, and that our entire political system is fundamentally broken.
But we can change the status quo.
We can end the toxic partisanship and dysfunction in Washington.
When I launched my campaign for the U.S. Senate, I did so with a deep resolve to maintain the leadership style and principles that guided me during my eight years as governor.
Fifty years ago, my father, Maryland Congressman Larry Hogan Sr. made a tough decision. He became the first Republican to come out for the impeachment of President Nixon. He put aside party politics and his own personal considerations and stepped up to do the right thing for Maryland and the nation.
Today, Washington is completely broken because that kind of leadership and willingness to put country over party has become far too rare. But it’s not in my nature to sit back and watch the dysfunction continue without doing what I can to roll up my sleeves and get to work.
I’m under no illusion this will be an easy road. But I’m no stranger to uphill battles, and I know I can’t do it without your support.
I don't aspire to be a United States senator. I don’t need a title and I don’t need a job, but I’m more concerned than ever about the direction of the country and I have become more convinced that I can make a difference by taking the approach and style of leadership I had during my eight years as governor to Washington.
It’s no surprise this mindset has made me a target of the Washington partisans. Despite early polls showing a lead, I know I’m the underdog in this race. And that’s why your support TODAY is so crucial.
For eight years, we proved that the toxic politics that divide our nation didn’t need to divide our state, and we got results! Let’s get back to work again and send a message to Washington that will be heard loud and clear across the country!
