Friend, I need to come clean —

I talk a lot about how important it is to reach my $6 MILLION end-of-quarter goal by Sept. 30, but it's not just to keep my ads on the air or the lights on at HQ. Our ability to hit that goal is a vital measure of our strength to win, and my unspeakably wealthy opponent, Rick Scott, will be watching.

But despite Rick Scott personally floating himself a cool $14 MILLION so far, he's not the only big spender seeking to drown me out of Florida's race.
Truth is, Rick's super PAC is also bankrolling his reelection bid, with truly massive donations from corporate giants — most notably, Big Sugar.

A major power player — and polluter — in Florida, Big Sugar groups like U.S. Sugar and Florida Crystals have given Rick's PAC $775,000 this cycle to target me with attack ads, and keep my voice from reaching voters.

But how do you think Scott earned such a sweet deal?

While governor, he hit state water management boards — which worked to restore the Everglades — with a $700 MILLION budget cut — driving a spike in pollution entering Florida's fragile wetland ecosystems.

Then, he REPEALED a law requiring regular septic tank inspections. When they leaked, the sewage entered our waters, only worsening the issue.

Finally, he ABOLISHED the Department of Community Affairs, which protected Florida communities from dangerous, greed-driven corporate activities.

And Big Sugar — whose crop-burning methods pollute the air near Black and Hispanic communities, and whose fertilizer-laden runoff drove one of the biggest red tide events in recent Florida history — was a big winner.

While I fought in Congress to secure $200 million in federal funds to restore the Everglades, Red Tide Rick's rollbacks lost over $1 BILLION in revenue between 2017-19, killed thousands of manatees, and left our shores stinking from the smell of countless rotting sea creatures.

In short, Rick Scott is 100% BOUGHT by Big Sugar — and it should leave a bitter taste in the mouth of anyone who cares about the iconic natural beauty or the people that make our Sunshine State so special. Ya no más.

The only special interests I'm beholden to are those of working Florida families and grassroots donors like you, who power my campaign for progress.

But up against the double whammy of a filthy-rich Republican and his even bigger industrial allies, I don't stand a chance of overcoming their cash without your support in this final stretch.

So please, friend, can I count on you to step up and rush a gift of $5, $25, or any amount now? Your support before Monday night is critical to help my chances of retiring Red Tide Rick, protecting Florida's natural beauty, and fighting for its people over big polluters in the U.S. Senate.

Your support is the sweetest of all — thank you,

Debbie
