Welcome to Hogan’s Highlights! Every week, we’ll give you an exclusive look at Gov. Larry Hogan’s journey on the campaign trail and round up the biggest stories impacting the state of the Senate race.

Hogan visited more Marylanders across the state on his Strong Independent Leadership Tour across Maryland, marked the anniversary of an important day in his life, and celebrated Maryland’s diverse communities. On Saturday, September 21, Gov. Hogan and the Hogan for Maryland team had a wonderful time walking in the Poolesville Day Parade—the latest stop on Gov. Hogan’s Strong Independent Leadership Tour.
Gov. Hogan: “Enjoyed having the chance to meet residents and fellow parade participants before kicking off the Poolesville Day Parade!”

CELEBRATING MARYLAND COMMUNITIES
That afternoon, Gov. Hogan visited the Indian Cultural Association’s Festival of India in Howard County.
Gov. Hogan: “Had a great time meeting families and members of our state’s Indian community and visitors at the Indian Cultural Association’s Festival of India this afternoon in Howard County. Everywhere we go, people are fired up about cutting through the partisan BS and getting back to common sense in Washington. Special thank you to Daisy Uppal for joining us and for her support!”
MEETING MARYLANDERS
On Monday, September 23, Gov. Hogan visited downtown Salisbury and stopped for lunch in Cambridge.

STRONG INDEPENDENT LEADERSHIP
That night, Gov. Hogan was honored to address members of the Baltimore Jewish Council.
Gov. Hogan: “It was an honor to address members of the Baltimore Jewish Council and have the opportunity to talk about the need for strong independent leadership in the U.S. Senate. At this critical moment, Maryland needs a pro-Israel champion in Washington who will stand up and fight for our closest and most important ally. That’s what I did as governor and it’s exactly what I'll do as Maryland’s next Senator.
AN IMPORTANT DAY
Wednesday, September 25, marked the anniversary of an important day for Gov. Hogan.
Gov. Hogan: “Nine years ago today, I received a blessing from Pope Francis on behalf of all cancer patients. It was truly one of the most remarkable experiences of my life, for which I am profoundly grateful.
On the day I found out I was cancer-free, I pledged that as long as I am governor and long after, I will stand with all of those who are fighting this terrible disease. I encourage all Marylanders to talk to their healthcare provider about the lifesaving benefits of cancer screening—early detection saves lives.
NATIONAL DAUGHTER’S DAY
Wednesday also marked National Daughter’s Day.
Gov. Hogan: “On National Daughters Day, I’m especially grateful for my three incredible daughters: Kim, Jaymi, and Julie. I don’t know where I’d be without their constant love and support. I am so proud to be their dad.”
BACK ON THE TRAIL
The same day, Gov. Hogan and the Hogan for Maryland team headed over to the Eastern Shore for the 47th Annual J. Millard Tawes Crab and Clam Bake in Crisfield, continuing his Strong Independent Leadership tour across Maryland.
Gov. Hogan’s Strong Independent Leadership Tour has now made over 120 stops covering every region of the state.
Gov. Hogan: “It was great to be back on the Eastern Shore seeing old friends and talking to so many enthusiastic Marylanders about our campaign to bring strong independent leadership to Washington. Our Hogan for Maryland team is not taking a single vote for granted—we will not be outworked. We look forward to speaking with more Marylanders about our grassroots campaign as we continue our Strong Independent Leadership Tour across the state.”

When I launched my campaign for the U.S. Senate, I did so with a deep resolve to maintain the leadership style and principles that guided me during my eight years as governor.
Fifty years ago, my father, Maryland Congressman Larry Hogan Sr. made a tough decision. He became the first Republican to come out for the impeachment of President Nixon. He put aside party politics and his own personal considerations and stepped up to do the right thing for Maryland and the nation.
Today, Washington is completely broken because that kind of leadership and willingness to put country over party has become far too rare. But it’s not in my nature to sit back and watch the dysfunction continue without doing what I can to roll up my sleeves and get to work.
I’m under no illusion this will be an easy road. But I’m no stranger to uphill battles, and I know I can’t do it without your support.
I don't aspire to be a United States senator. I don’t need a title and I don’t need a job, but I’m more concerned than ever about the direction of the country and I have become more convinced that I can make a difference by taking the approach and style of leadership I had during my eight years as governor to Washington.
It’s no surprise this mindset has made me a target of the Washington partisans. Despite early polls showing a lead, I know I’m the underdog in this race. And that’s why your support TODAY is so crucial.
For eight years, we proved that the toxic politics that divide our nation didn’t need to divide our state, and we got results! Let’s get back to work again and send a message to Washington that will be heard loud and clear across the country!
