As Election Day gets closer and closer, it’s clear that the presidential election is a toss-up.
Instead of focusing on winning over voters, Donald Trump’s campaign is zeroing in on a strategy to subvert the will of the people.
In Nebraska, Lindsey Graham tried and failed to get the legislature to change its rules at the last minute and switch to a winner take all electoral vote allocation, a move that would likely take away one key electoral vote from Vice President Harris.
In Georgia, its MAGA-controlled election board voted to “require a statewide hand-count of all ballots in the 2024 election,” which will lead to massive delays in reporting on election night – and sow doubt about the results.
And in swing states across the country, the GOP is gearing up to deploy 100,000 “election-integrity” volunteers to “monitor” the vote in Democratic cities.
Let us be clear: these tactics are not about ensuring fair elections but about undermining democracy itself.
Strong, Democratic Secretaries of State are our best line of defense against these attempts to undermine democracy. We need to be prepared, which is why we’re laying the groundwork now.
