Hi there,
One thing we love about Special Olympics is that athletes with intellectual disabilities (ID) from your community and around the world participate for years and even decades. Our one-of-a-kind community allows people with ID from every background to train, compete, win medals, and access powerful services like health screenings and leadership development.
In other words, they become lifelong champions. And every Special Olympics champion starts their journey with us with a single step onto the field… Or playing just one sport… Or even learning to throw a ball as a toddler!
For the next three days, we’re raising $25,000 for a simple purpose: We want you to help Train the Next Champion! Your gift could help purchase new equipment and support athletes with ID as they dive into fall sports – many for the very first time! If you can, please give now, as it only takes $60 to train an athlete for one year →
Samantha B. from Special Olympics Virginia, who you see pictured above and below, is a multi-sport and multi-talent ROCK STAR who is newer to our movement. Before she started competing at Special Olympics, she had already run track for years in school, and her passion for excellence was well-known to her family and teammates.
But it was Special Olympics that finally gave this remarkable athlete with ID more opportunities to compete at the highest levels (including the USA Games!), find community with people like her, and become a CHAMPION both on and off the playing field.
Samantha, who also has epilepsy and a stutter, became a Special Olympics Global Ambassador to conquer her fear of public speaking and inspire more people with ID to become champions themselves. Within her program, she’s known to welcome new athletes with her signature warmth and joy, and she’s the first one to cheer everybody on as they grow and shine – as athletes and as individuals.
Our inclusion movement needs more champions like Samantha! Agree? Donate now to help Train the Next Champion just in time for fall sports >>>
Thank you for all you do for athletes,
Dan Orzechowski
