During Minnesota’s first-ever Workplace Rights Week, Governor Walz and Lieutenant Governor Flanagan highlighted new worker protections signed into law by Governor Walz. Elevated by the new laws, including earned sick and safe time and paid family and medical leave, Minnesota ranks among top states for workers and their families. Lieutenant Governor Flanagan joined workers at Health Systems Cooperative Laundries to discuss worker rights and highlight the new workplace protections.
*"No matter where you work, we’re going to make sure you’re safe and healthy on the job," *said Governor Walz. *"**We’re supporting families, expanding worker protections, and giving workers a greater voice."*
*"Feeling safe at work is not a privilege, it’s a right. When our workforce is protected, empowered, and healthy, we all benefit," *said Lieutenant Governor Flanagan.* "That’s why, in Minnesota, we are investing in our employees through expanded access to paid leave and earned sick and safe time, and making sure everyone knows their rights."*

Governor Walz Announces $6 Million Child Care Expansion

Governor Walz tours a child care center in Minnetonka
Governor Walz announced over $6 million in new grants to expand access to child care for working families throughout Minnesota. The new grants follow record funding announced in May, and are expected to create thousands of new child care slots.
*"Having access to affordable and reliable child care is what allows new parents to get to work. Investments like this **help not only that parent, but their employer, their community, and our economy as a whole," *said Governor Walz. *"**These new grants will create thousands of new child care slots and expand support for middle-class families across Minnesota."*

With this work we’re taking major strides toward our goal of making Minnesota the best state in the nation for children,"* said Lieutenant Governor Flanagan. *"When we invest in the needs of children and families, we’re building a strong foundation for generations to come."*

Governor Walz Highlights $3.5 Billion in Federal Climate Grants During Climate Week

In recognition of Climate Week, Governor Walz highlighted nearly $3.5 billion in federal climate grants that Minnesota has received since 2022. Federal funding, combined with the state’s historic climate investments, is fueling the clean energy economy, creating new jobs, and generating billions in private sector investments statewide.
*"Minnesota is leading the way in climate solutions. We have reduced greenhouse gas emissions, improved energy efficiency, and invested in climate resilience," *said Governor Walz.* "This wouldn’t be possible without federal investments. Together, we will continue to build a cleaner, safer future for Minnesota."*
