Dear John, [link removed] [[link removed]]
This week, I spent two days at the White House with President Biden, Vice President Harris, and other gun violence prevention advocates and survivors from across the country to celebrate the historic drops in gun homicide over the past few years.
We took a moment to reflect on this progress, then we got straight back to work with a suite of new Executive Orders – including one to address the growing threat from machine gun conversion “switches,” like the one likely used at last weekend’s mass shooting in Alabama. These policies will keep driving our efforts to save lives from the scourge of gun violence.
Here’s what the news might not cover, but what everyone at the White House this week knew to be true: these historic gun violence reductions are because of you. You’re the backbone of a grassroots movement that has shifted the politics of gun violence prevention from what used to be considered a “third rail” in Washington to a top-tier issue with serious policy commitments and investments from the highest levels. With your help, we can ensure that these strides forward are just the beginning. [[link removed]]
Here’s the headline from our visit: the whole-of-government response led by the Biden-Harris administration has led to a massive decrease in gun victimizations across the country. In Milwaukee, for example, there was a 21% decrease in homicides in just one year. And the four new Executive Orders announced on Thursday will help reinforce this life-saving progress across Wisconsin and around the country.
But that transformation didn’t happen easily. It happened because together we pushed. These life-saving policies are because of your work. And now we need to keep pushing. Will you give $20 to help us continue making progress? [[link removed]]

Here are some highlights of what we talked about with President Biden and Vice President Harris:
The first year of successes for the White House Office of Gun Violence Prevention , including distributing millions of dollars of funding to evidence-based, community violence intervention efforts in Wisconsin. These investments are a huge part of the historic drop in gun violence.
Four new Executive Orders to reign in the threat from machine gun converters and 3-D printed firearms, strengthen background checks, reduce the trauma from school active shooter drills, and open up more funding streams for community-based efforts to stop shootings before they destroy lives.
We know that with you we can lock in more life-saving gains. [[link removed]] We know we have the support of people across our state and across the country. We know we will keep making progress.
With gratitude,
Nick
