A statement from Nathan Buchanan:
Sheriff Salazar spoke at the Democratic National Convention (DNC) on August 21, 2024. As with most of the comments he’s made in the past 8 years, they were fraught with error and lacking veracity.
Reasonable people see through Salazar’s propensity to omit facts and cast blame on those who are blameless.
President Trump, as those same reasonable people recall, had the border problem contained as much as possible but interference by certain Democrats prohibited him from finishing the border wall.
For the past four years it has been apparent that Vice-President Harris, the appointed “border czarina” failed in the only job she was tasked, and that was to secure the border and make the border safe for Americans.
Salazar was obviously making self-serving political comments in his hopes for a potential appointment to a federal office by a future Harris-Walz administration or a run for a different political office with their blessing.
Either way, he is doing his constituency both Democratic and Republican a disservice by casting falsehoods and providing Bexar County residents a false sense of security as thousands of unvetted foreign nationals stream across the borders into our country, every day. Who are they? What dangers do they pose to Texans? What dangers do they pose to the good residents of Bexar County? Over half a million illegal immigrants were processed at the San Pedro Migrant Center for the year of 2023 alone.
This is causing a massive influx of crime to spill into our streets including sex/human trafficking, drug dealing, robberies, rapes and murders.
Donald Trump attended the wake of New York City police officer Jonathan Diller last March. Officer Diller’s family said they were comforted by President Trump’s comments and presence. Could you expect a President Harris to show up? No, you would not. Trump stands with the men and women of law enforcement every single day. Donald Trump has been the strongest supporter of law enforcement officers since President Reagan, perhaps even more. Trump is so beloved by the majority of law enforcement officers; several uniformed San Antonio police officers donned red MAGA hats and posed with President Trump when he came to San Antonio for a visit in 2016. Has Salazar forgotten? Border Patrol stands behind Trump too.
Salazar is not a responsible Sheriff. Since his ascension to office in 2017, there have been ninety-two deaths at the county jail. I believe many would have been prevented had there been adequate staffing in the medical unit and on the floors and in the pods at the jail. During his tenure, San Antonio has fallen into 2nd place as the highest crime in the State of Texas and the Bexar County Jail has fallen into the number 1 spot for the worst jail in the nation! All on his watch!
In his “Re-elect Sheriff Javier Salazar” email that he blasted out, he said that he is “committed to protecting your families from those who would harm them.” Really? How many of those unvetted border crossers have taken the lives of American children? For example, in May 2023, an illegal immigrant who had been removed three times previously by ICE, murdered a family of five, including a 9-year-old boy named Daniel Laso-Guzman in Cleveland, Texas. 16-year-old Lizbeth Medina was raped and murdered by an illegal alien in Edna, Texas, last December. Just this past June, two illegals from Venezuela, apprehended at the border, but released into the interior by ICE, strangled 12-year-old Jocelyn Nungaray to death in Houston. All these deaths of Texans and Texan children occurred under the watch of “tough on border” Harris. Salazar could do his part and shut down the illegal migrant center located on San Pedro Rd and enforce SB-4, but he chooses not to. Instead, he tells us that we must embrace the illegals, give them jobs and have compassion for them. We need to have compassion. Americans first and protect the people of this nation before anyone else.
Salazar has already had members of his team begin to make up lies about me in a pathetic attempt to take the spotlight from his failed speech and the backlash he is receiving from it. All that confirms to me is that he knows he messed up BIG and he is now on the defense.
Javier Salazar claims to want to protect you and your families from those who would harm you…but the truth is, the only thing Salazar cares about, is Javier Salazar and his horrible performance at the DNC proves it. He stated that Donald Trump is a self-serving man, when in fact he needs to take a hard look in the mirror at himself, as his actions show him to be the one who is truly self serving. Javier Salazar MUST be removed from office this November and you have the power to do so with your vote! Together, we can make that happen!
