We are profoundly alarmed by Israel’s recent bombing of a major population center in Beirut, allegedly targeting Hezbollah’s leader with U.S.-supplied weapons. This escalation risks igniting a wider regional war that includes Iran, despite Netanyahu’s hollow claims of “yearning for peace.” His recent dehumanizing rhetoric, calling his enemies “savages,” only serves to legitimize the devastating civilian death toll.

For nearly a year, the war in Gaza has inflicted untold suffering. Yet, our leaders have failed to secure a ceasefire, and now risk pushing us toward another endless regional conflict.
