John,
This Giving Tuesday, I wanted to share something incredibly exciting with you: we just hosted our first-ever VIRTUAL Candidate & Campaign Training! There are more LGBTQ people running for office than ever before, and demand for our trainings has never been higher. Before I get into the details, help us hit our Giving Tuesday MATCH to support these future leaders!
But the safety of our trainees is a top priority, so we asked this amazing group of 28 LGBTQ leaders, current candidates and future elected officials to join us via Zoom for a three-day interactive training experience. And I think you can tell from their faces that they had a great time!
Victory Institute is committed to training candidates and future candidates who reflect the entirety of the LGBTQ community. Nearly half of trainees identified as women, while one-quarter identified as members of the trans community, and almost forty percent as leaders of color! We know that having diverse voices in government results in more pro-LGBTQ legislation. Will you chip in on Giving Tuesday to help us hit our Match and train more LGBTQ leaders from all walks of life?
With so much happening during the COVID-19 pandemic and our ever-changing political system, we wanted to give our virtual trainees the best experience and most up-to-date information we have. We overhauled the curriculum to make it more virtual-friendly. We adopted the latest technologies to ensure our participants were still able to interact as much as possible – a critical part of each class. And we added new sessions to address campaigning during this pandemic – helping our trainees identify hidden opportunities for their campaigns.
Each training is an invigorating experience. I always walk away with new ideas and am inspired by the stories from our trainees. But to be frank, it takes hard work and funding to train the next generation – and adopting these virtual tools isn’t cheap. Will you make a generous donation for Giving Tuesday to support our trainings and these future leaders?
Thank you so much for standing with us!
Best,
Mario Enríquez
