John -
This week is New York Climate Week, a pivotal moment for advocating climate action and urging our government to prioritize our planet’s future.
But who is one of this week’s main sponsors? National Grid. A fossil fuel-powered utility company that monopolizes the New York and Massachusetts utility market.
National Grid is spending the big bucks to greenwash its reputation this week — even as it just approved a staggering 30% rate hike for customers to support fossil fuel expansions.
This hypocrisy cannot go unchallenged, John. Add your name to tell National Grid to stop the rate hikes and commit to clean, renewable, and affordable energy for all.
To call out this greenwashing, 350 staff, in solidarity with Sane Energy Project and Climate Defenders Action, staged impactful disruptions at a Climate Week panel hosted by National Grid yesterday, making our voices heard loud and clear.
And our fight against National Grid is just one part of our fight for utility justice.
We believe energy is a human right. John, you pay your energy bill to power your home, cook your meals, and support your daily life.
But greedy, for-profit utility companies can choose to use those funds to invest in energy sources that are unreliable, expensive, and burning up the planet.
They can choose to raise rates for their own profit, and then they can turn off our power in seconds if we don’t pay them enough money.
And they spend that money on political lobbying, and can be paid off by Big Oil billionaires who are desperate to pad their own wallets by keeping us all dependent on destructive energy sources — even when there are cleaner alternatives that are perfectly safe and affordable. Enough is enough.
Together, we can hold National Grid accountable and amplify our fight for true utility justice. Will you stand with us and add your name to tell National Grid to commit to clean, renewable, and affordable energy for all?
In solidarity,
Team 350
