This week I was in Madrid, Spain for the opening of the Foundation for Analysis and Social Studies 2024 Campus. I shared with FAES that the global situation we all face is more turbulent, more dangerous and more unpredictable than it has been in a long time, in fact, since the collapse of the Soviet Union and the breakup of the Warsaw Pact. The post-Cold War era has been a confusing and worrying time, but now we add to that the risks and threats that we ignored for too long.
Make no mistake, it’s going to be a tough four years for the United States and that is something that our allies in Europe and across the globe should be thinking about – and I think they are.
I also responded to Israel’s stunning attacks on Hezbollah and the Department of Justice’s reward of up to $20 million for information leading to the arrest or conviction of Shahram Poursafi, a member of Iran's Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps who is believed to be responsible for the plot against my life. |
