Friend, This week, I led the majority of the House Republican conference in calling on our leadership to put the Farm Bill on the floor ASAP. Earlier this year, House Republicans introduced a strong Farm Bill that provides certainty and support for Iowa farmers and producers. From expanding access to precision ag technology, pushing back against California’s overreaching Prop 12 mandate, and protecting American ag land from the CCP, this legislation addresses challenges I frequently hear about from producers and invests in our food security. The Farm Bill passed out of the House Agriculture Committee with bipartisan support in May. Meanwhile, Senate Democrats have only released a framework of the Farm Bill, not even putting a final bill forward despite key programs expiring soon. Enough is enough – I believe the Farm Bill would receive bipartisan support on the House Floor from members who understand that food doesn’t just grow at the grocery store. This shouldn’t be a partisan issue, and I’m not afraid to stand up to my own party leadership to advocate for the needs of Iowa ag. Our farmers don’t have time for games, they need Congress to do the work and come through for them, just like they come through for us each day. Best, Improving Election Integrity Following concerns from state and local election officials about how postal operations will impact mail-in ballots, the House Appropriations Committee hosted an oversight hearing with Postmaster General, Louis DeJoy. I pressed Mr. DeJoy on the concerns raised by officials and reaffirmed the importance of USPS having a fool-proof process in place going into the election. It should be easy to vote and hard to cheat, and those who vote by mail should feel confident their ballot will make it to its final destination. I will continue working to improve election integrity. Watch my full exchange with Mr. DeJoy here. Iowa Gold Star Families This week, I had the opportunity to meet with Gold Star families from Iowa. Their loved ones laid down their lives serving our country. Nothing we do can fills that void, but at a bare minimum, we can ensure Gold Star families receive the benefits they deserve. Iowa Association of Electric Cooperatives The Iowa Association of Electric Cooperatives provides safe, reliable, and affordable power to over 650,000 homes and businesses across Iowa! It was great to speak with their team to discuss the importance of ensuring rural Iowans have reliable energy access. American Feed Industry I’m working alongside the American Feed Industry to reshore our supply chain for key ag inputs, including animal feed and vitamins. We shouldn’t rely on China for any aspect of our food supply. Americans for Prosperity Iowa In Congress, I’m advocating for pro-growth reforms: lower taxes, less red tape, and limited government! I’m grateful for the work AFP is doing to advocate for these commonsense policies that will help Iowa families, and our entire economy, thrive! Investing in IA-02: Howard County Law Enforcement As a Member of the House Appropriations Committee, I have worked to cut wasteful spending while reinvesting taxpayer dollars in our communities. Your tax dollars shouldn’t go toward the Left's agenda, they should benefit you. I was proud to secure $287,000 to equip police officers and emergency management officials in Howard County with portable handheld radios and a high-tech communications system. This investment will improve responsiveness and public safety.
