Just before the House adjourned till after the November 5th election, Speaker Mike Johnson and others in House leadership strategized on a way to avoid a government shutdown. The House failed to pass all 12 individual appropriations bills again this year, so as Congress usually does, they introduced a Continuing Resolution (CR) to continue funding at current extreme spending levels and kicked the can down the road again to December 20th, where we will likely be forced to consider another massive omnibus spending bill with no real cuts so lawmakers can go home for Christmas.
I voted NO on two Continuing Resolutions introduced this month. I will not go along and fund a weaponized government without significant spending cuts, border security, or election security. Congress should do its job and pass individual appropriations bills on time instead of continuously manufacturing last minute fiscal crises that do nothing to address Washington’s spending problem and America’s $35+ trillion debt.
Nonetheless, my office made significant strides for Colorado during the last couple weeks of session!

The House of Representatives voted to pass my bill to reauthorize the Upper Colorado and San Juan River Basin Recovery Programs! This is a major win for Colorado and the West. These important programs, which will be extended for an additional seven fiscal years, will ensure that 2,500 water and power projects continue, and provide legal certainty for water and power users throughout Colorado, New Mexico, Utah, and Wyoming. With strong bicameral, bipartisan momentum and significant stakeholder support, I'm confident this bill will become law and this important program will be reauthorized. I’m proud to report that the House of Representatives passed the “Fix Our Forests Act,” which includes four amendments I introduced to the legislation. America needs to do more to actively manage our forests and prevent catastrophic wildfires that are devastating our communities. Federal agencies have to stop spending billions of dollars on the backend putting out fires and shift to a comprehensive, proactive approach. My amendments do exactly that and are the type of solutions needed in the West and Colorado. I thank House Natural Resources Committee Chairman Bruce Westerman for his support on all four of my amendments, and I urge the Senate to take up his critical legislation. Joe Biden and Kamala Harris continue to pander to radical Green New Deal extremists to try and eliminate fossil fuels at the expense of Colorado communities. If implemented, this Biden-Harris land grab will kill thousands of Colorado jobs, significantly reduce revenues for education, could increase gas prices for families and small businesses, and further undermine American energy independence. My legislation that passed the Natural Resources Committee with bipartisan support blocks this bureaucratic land grab. It's far past time that we stopped begging foreign dictators to produce oil and gas for America. Instead, let’s responsibly develop American energy and stop pandering to national extremist environmental groups that don’t care about our local communities. Earlier this week, I introduced H.R. 9755, the “Human Trafficking Fingerprint Background Check Protection Act of 2024," which would require owners and employees of massage wellness spas to undergo fingerprint-based background checks to mitigate the risk of human trafficking and enhance public safety. Massage wellness spas have been identified by law enforcement as one of the primary locations for criminals engaged in human trafficking. This simple but effective measure in my bill will help close off one of the primary avenues used by traffickers to exploit children and other vulnerable individuals. By implementing this safeguard, we can take a stand to protect families and ensure these businesses aren’t operating as shady fronts for criminal enterprises. My new legislation, the “Private Sector Competition in Microtransit Act,” would require any state or local government that receives federal funds to operate microtransit services enter into a contract with a private entity for the operation of such services. Microtransit is a critical service, especially for our elderly and disabled citizens who often face barriers to accessing traditional public transportation. These small-scale, on-demand services provide a vital lifeline to individuals who need to get to medical appointments, grocery stores, or simply visit loved ones. Unfortunately, government-run microtransit services are putting private-sector businesses at a disadvantage, often driving them out of the market. This results in higher costs for taxpayers—2 to 3 times more than what the private sector can offer—and less innovation and efficiency. My legislation will level the playing field by encouraging private-sector participation and reducing government interference. This will not only lead to better services for those who depend on microtransit, but it will also ensure that our taxpayers' dollars are used more effectively! Douglas County Commissioners Abe Laydon, George Teal, and Lora Thomas issued the following joint statement after I introduced this legislation: “We are grateful for Rep. Lauren Boebert’s introduction of H.R. 9756, which creates opportunities for private sector small businesses through microtransit initiatives. Promoting microtransit will empower local small businesses to thrive, improve transportation access, and strengthen our economy. This legislation makes sense for local communities in Douglas County and across Colorado, and we look forward to working on its passage with Congresswoman Boebert.” Click HERE to read more about the Private Sector Competition in Microtransit Act.

I also introduced the “Finish the AVC Act” to help complete construction of the Arkansas Valley Conduit (AVC), a critical infrastructure project that will provide tens of thousands of Southeast Colorado residents with access to clean water. Southeast Coloradans have been waiting for decades for the completion of the Arkansas Valley Conduit and the Finish the AVC Act will help local governments finally finish this major project. Rural families and businesses need access to clean, sustainable water they can depend on every day. It’s time we get the AVC done for Colorado, and I'm working with Senators Bennet and Hickenlooper to getting this bill through both chambers of Congress. This week, the Third Congressional District (CO-03) had nine new requests from constituents for federal casework assistance. District staff was also able to close 45 previous cases this week resulting in $127,616.34 being returned to constituents in the district. A casework highlight coming from the Western Region of (CO-03) was $115,286.08 being returned to a constituent from an amended tax return issue. A casework highlight coming from the Southern Region of (CO-03) was a veteran who was finally able to obtain his service records after months of back and forth.

If the former President of the United States Donald Trump isn’t safe at his own home, no one in America is safe. That’s what you get under Biden-Harris. The fact that we are now talking about TWO assassination attempts just 65 days apart shows how much of a dangerous time we are in. I would argue that vile Democrat rhetoric is to blame for it! I joined the Todd Starnes Show to break down my thoughts on the 2nd attempted assassination of President Trump. Click HERE to watch!

Speaker Mike Johnson and some House Republicans wanted to pass a six-month Continuing Resolution (CR) with the SAVE Act. The SAVE Act, however, already passed in the House in July. We should have been putting pressure on the Senate to pass the SAVE Act before any consideration of the CR. Like I told OAN’s Dan Ball in THIS interview, I was prepared to shut down the government if we cannot secure the border, ensure election security, and cut funding for federal agencies that are weaponizing against the American people and their political opponents.
|
Last week, I voted against the Surrender CR, which included a six-month funding extension with the SAVE Act. We have the power of the purse, and we should use it. This CR continues massive spending at detrimental levels, keeps the Southern Border wide open for the criminals and fentanyl surging across it, and totally replenishes funds for weaponized federal agencies. If Republicans don’t like what this weaponized government is doing to the American people, then we shouldn’t fund them. It’s that simple. The SAVE Act is a good bill. I voted for it earlier this summer, but I refused to go along with the out-of-control spending that is suffocating our nation.
I further explained my thoughts in an interview on Steve Bannon’s War Room. Click HERE to watch!

Under the Harris-Biden regime, we aren't getting real answers regarding the attempted assassinations of President Trump. We heard deflection after deflection from the Secret Service and Christopher Wray’s FBI.
Should someone from the private sector like Elon Musk take the lead on the investigation? I discussed this possibility with OAN’s Chanel Rion on her program Fine Point. Click HERE to watch!
