Hi ,

The urgent work continues. Just last week, we announced that 3,000 Angelenos have come inside from more than 60 encampment operations from all over the City.

Just yesterday, I was in Historic Filipinotown observing another operation that was bringing people inside. Some of the people who were housed had been homeless for years.

Think about that.

Years of sleeping in tents.
Years of sleeping on benches.
Years of sleeping in store fronts.

But not last night. We’ve turned the page on the old way of doing things.

Last night, they slept inside.

** More updates from around L.A.
------------------------------------------------------------

** 10 Miles of New Bike Paths Open in the Valley
------------------------------------------------------------
We must continue to build a greener Los Angeles. As a bike rider myself, I want to thank Council President Krekorian and other partners for leading this project so that Angelenos throughout the city have access to bike lanes that will benefit L.A. and Angelenos for years to come.

** Making a Sustained Difference in Hollywood
------------------------------------------------------------
Mayor Bass has partnered with Councilmember Soto-Martinez to confront the homelessness crisis in Hollywood.
To date, more than 250 people have been housed from 8 major encampment locations in the area. Click to hear from Syed ([link removed]) and Karla ([link removed]) who are now inside – also hear from Jim Henderson ([link removed]) , owner of Amoeba Music about the impact Inside Safe had on his business.

** More Housing and More Healthy Choices in South LA
------------------------------------------------------------
Mayor Bass announced ([link removed]) thousands of jobs, hundreds of housing units and more healthy choices are coming to South L.A. This is a first-of-its-kind project for the City of Los Angeles that will accelerate the building of more much-needed housing.

** Celebrating Latino Heritage Month
------------------------------------------------------------
[link removed]
Los Angeles has the largest community of Mexican descent outside of Mexico.

To kick off Latino Heritage Month, we lit City Hall ([link removed]) to celebrate not only Mexican Independence Day, but the significant contributions from the Mexican-American community to our City and beyond.

All through October 15th, the Mayor’s Office and City leaders will be celebrating Latino Heritage Month – stay tuned for upcoming programs and events!

** Bringing Hope In Koreatown and Westlake
------------------------------------------------------------
Inside Safe brought Angelenos inside from Koreatown ([link removed]) streets in partnership with Councilwoman Heather Hutt. Two days later, Inside Safe went to the intersection of Lucas Avenue and Wilshire Boulevard in the Westlake neighborhood in partnership with Councilmember Eunisses Hernandez. The operation brought more than 25 Angelenos inside ([link removed]) , including a family with a baby, and spanned two city blocks. The area addressed is 6 blocks east from MacArthur Park.
