Dear neighbor,

After weeks of pointless political theater, Republicans finally allowed the House to vote on a funding extension to avoid a government shutdown. When we weren’t busy keeping the federal government open, House Democrats came together this week to bring attention to Trump’s Project 2025, 920 pages of crazy with deadly consequences.

By now, you’ve likely heard of Project 2025 and the devastating impact it would have on American families. I wanted to break down a few of the specific goals of Project 2025 just to tell you how weird this document really is. Among other things, Project 2025 would:

  • Eliminate the Department of Education (page 319)
  • End the National Weather Service (page 675)
  • Allow children to work in hazardous conditions (page 595)
  • Ban abortion nationwide (pages 4 and 5)

That’s crazy. I stand with my House Democratic colleagues against this radical policy agenda.

UNITED AGAINST EXTREMISM: I was pleased to join Leader Hakeem Jeffries, Whip Katherine Clark, Caucus Chairman Pete Aguilar, and other House Democratic leadership to shine a light on all of Project 2025’s most dangerous proposals during a special hearing this week. You can watch the whole meeting, including moving testimony from Americans who would be directly harmed by Trump’s Project 2025, here.

Here’s what else I worked on this week:

  • Marked the start of Asian American and Native American Pacific Islander Serving Institutions (AANAPISI) Week alongside my Congressional Asian Pacific American Caucus colleagues
  • Debunked Republicans’ claim (again) that the 2020 election was stolen
  • Joined House Minority Leader Hakeem Jeffries to speak at a roundtable event about voting rights hosted by Congressional Hispanic Caucus Chair Rep. Nanette Barragán and Vice Chair of Policy Rep. Darren Soto
