Greetings,
We hope you had a great week. As always, we’re excited to update you on some important legislation that passed this week in Congress and Congressman Kim’s busy week serving our community. But first… happy (belated) Bruce Springsteen Day! Every day in this office is a Bruce Springsteen day but this Monday we loved joining communities across New Jersey in wishing the Boss a very happy birthday.
As always, we hope you find these updates and resources helpful.
Congressman Kim Highlights Hunger Action Month at 79th Town Hall
Yesterday, Congressman Kim hosted his 79th town hall to hear directly from neighbors, share updates from his recent work in Congress, and recognize Hunger Action Month! He was glad to be joined by the Executive Director of Freehold Area Open Door to hear more about their decades of work delivering food to thousands of families and the growing needs in our local community. Congressman Kim spoke about his legislation to expand children’s access to summer meal assistance and efforts to secure federal resources to support local organizations’ work to deliver food assistance and combat the roots of hunger.
Thanks to everyone who joined. If you didn’t have the chance, catch-up on the rest of the conversation and some topics covered here and we can’t wait for the Congressman’s 80th town hall next month!
Congressman Kim's Statement on the Passage of a Three Month Continuing Resolution
On Wednesday, Congressman Kim voted to pass a three month continuing resolution to keep the government funded and operating through December 20th. His statement on the passage:
“New Jersey deserves a reliable government that’s working for them. Instead, Speaker Johnson has spent his time picking partisan fights rather than trying to find common ground to deliver on everyday needs. I voted for this resolution to make sure New Jerseyans don’t lose out on the services they depend on every day, and will continue to press for a funding bill that puts working families first.”
Prioritizing Education in New Jersey
This week, the Congressman was excited to welcome New Jersey educators with the New Jersey Education Association to the Capitol. Supporting educators and support staff across the state with further investment in public education is critical.
We are working to ensure all teachers receive the full social security benefits they deserve and to prioritize safety and well-being in schools in our work to combat gun violence and expand mental healthcare resources.
