Hey Friend —
It’s Mel Manuel. I’m incredibly grateful to have you as one of my supporters, someone who doesn’t just stand up for what’s right but fights for it.
As you may know, I am running for Congress against the Trump-loving, self-described “David Duke without the baggage” Majority Leader Steve Scalise. This race is about more than just defeating Scalise. It’s about showing what we, as a nation, stand for and creating a brighter future rooted in justice, equality, and progress.
I am proud to stand for everything Scalise opposes: racial equity, LGBTQ+ rights, bodily autonomy, universal healthcare, federally legalized marijuana, environmental protections, separation of church and state, racial equity, and universal basic income.
This week, Steve Scalise defended Congressman Clay Higgins after Higgins called Haiti "the nastiest country in the Western Hemisphere," propagated the dangerous and false narrative that Haitians eat Americans' pets, and labeled them as "thugs" who "better get their mind right and their ass out of our country." Scalise’s support of this vile racism speaks volumes about his tolerance for hate and bigotry. I am running to make sure leaders like him are held accountable and that racial justice is at the forefront of our government.
