With a presidential election just weeks away, we are seeing troubling signs that civic and electoral participation by members of underrepresented communities all across the Midwest is lagging behind national averages. Left unaddressed, this will mean that hundreds of thousands of folks across Iowa, Wisconsin, Michigan and Pennsylvania will not be able to make their voices heard in November.
Democracy only works if everyone is allowed to participate. That is why I’m excited to share that I've launched a new, nonpartisan initiative to empower underrepresented communities across our state.
It’s called Community Connect Project ’24.
Our goal is to boost voter registration, turnout and civic engagement.
As more people become involved and engaged, they’re energized to create positive, lasting change in their communities.
