We invite you to join us at the 2024 City of Justice Awards Dinner as we celebrate and honor the distinguished career of LAUSD Board President, Jackie Goldberg. 

Goldberg began her long career in public advocacy as a classroom teacher in Harvey, Illinois. Today, she serves as President of the Los Angeles Unified School District Board of Education, a role in which Goldberg leads district-wide efforts to expand community schools, increase sustainability, upgrade reading support, and ensure access to safe learning facilities.

Elected to the LAUSD Board of Education in 1983, Jackie helped launch bilingual education throughout the district. She then went on to hold offices in the Los Angeles City Council and the California State Assembly. In both of these positions, Jackie authored several noteworthy pieces of legislation that impacted a multitude of issues including the living wage, LGBTQ+ rights, workers' rights, and the California education system.

Through her experiences as a teacher, activist, leader, and Angeleno, Jackie Goldberg has demonstrated her lifelong commitment to public advocacy—championing issues to uplift public education and working families.
