As the State Senator of Uvalde, Texas, I have seen firsthand the terror caused by unfettered access to guns. A teenage gunman in my district killed 19 children and two teachers, holding off law enforcement for 77 minutes because they were scared of his AR-15.
From day one, the Biden-Harris Administration has worked tirelessly to end senseless acts of violence, establishing the Office of Gun Violence Prevention one year ago to end this terrible epidemic. Here’s what we’ve accomplished:
✅ [[link removed]] Enacted the Bipartisan Safer Communities Act into law, the most significant gun safety legislation in nearly 30 years.
✅ [[link removed]] Expanded background checks, addressing dangerous loopholes and ensuring that firearms do not fall into the wrong hands.
✅ [[link removed]] Decreased mass shootings 20% and homicides 17% from 2023.
The Biden-Harris Administration is now working to assess and address the threat posed by machine gun conversion devices and 3D-printed firearms, and orders government agencies to create more effective and less traumatic active shooter drills for our nation’s children.
These actions will continue to save lives, but all of that could change if Democrats don’t win in November. We can’t forget how Donald Trump failed us on gun violence:

❌ [[link removed]] Trump told Iowans they “have to get over” the death of a 6th grader who was murdered earlier this year.
❌ [[link removed]] Trump has promised that he’ll “ terminate ” all the work we have done to save lives from gun violence if he becomes president again.
John, our childrens’ lives matter more than anything. We must do everything in our power to stop another Uvalde from happening. We can do that at the ballot box this November.
