Yesterday, President Joe Biden signed new executive actions to address our nation’s gun violence epidemic, including targeting the emerging threat of machine gun conversion devices and unserialized 3D-printed firearms. I want to make it clear that this is the kind of change the American people desperately want and need. Will you respond to Brady’s urgent poll to show your support today?

Friend,
Yesterday, I was immensely proud to stand next to Vice President Kamala Harris and President Joe Biden as he signed a new, life-saving executive order and additional actions to combat our nation’s gun violence epidemic.
These continued executive actions are consequential for the nation and will protect countless lives, but they also are deeply meaningful to me personally as a gun violence survivor.

My mom was shot and killed when I was 19 years old and my father suffered multiple gunshot wounds but thankfully survived. My mom’s murder left me feeling incredibly lost, looking for answers and trying to figure out how to possibly move forward – that’s when I found Brady and found my voice. This organization has been a part of my journey of healing and advocacy for nearly 20 years and seeing the hard work and tenacity come to fruition yesterday was a reminder that our dedication is changing our country for the better.

I want to show an outpouring of support for this historic progress by the Biden-Harris Administration and show all of our lawmakers that Americans want this gun violence epidemic to end. So I’m asking you, friend: Will you respond to Brady’s urgent poll now and show lawmakers where Americans stand?

These latest executive orders demonstrate the multipronged public health approach for which Brady has continuously advocated. President Biden’s newest orders will target the emerging threat of machine gun conversion devices and unserialized 3D-printed firearms, provide additional tools for educators and legislators on secure storage of firearms, and further fund Community Violence Intervention (CVI). This administration continues to prove that gun violence prevention and saving lives is a top priority.

Yesterday's event was one of the most rewarding moments I've experienced in the near 20 years I've been in this movement. I am reminded constantly that I am a product of Brady's commitment to create change and invest in those directly impacted by gun violence. I am a product of Brady's commitment to grassroots, thought leadership, technical expertise and of our belief in approaching this work with empathy and care.
Every day, Brady is creating more opportunities to drive and create change. Not only the historic change we saw yesterday, but the significant strides we will make tomorrow. And you are a critical part of this work, friend.

We have a lot of work to do yet, but we will get there because of the work each of us are doing today and that is a pretty amazing thing to be a part of.
Thank you for being in this fight with us, friend.
