*OJJDP Launches Curriculum To Combat Youth Hate Crimes and Bullying*

PHYC Curriculum

OJJDP has released [ [link removed] ] the “Youth Hate Crimes & Identity-Based Bullying Prevention Curriculum [ [link removed] ].” The curriculum is designed to help youth build protective factors, change the attitudes and behavior of those youth who commit hate crimes, and encourage youth to become active participants in combating prejudice and hate wherever it occurs.

The curriculum contains 10 units with interactive lessons focused on understanding bias, prejudice, bullying, and hate; developing and practicing conflict resolution skills; and identifying and understanding bullying and hate crimes. The curriculum is intended for youth in middle school up to the 12th grade. Access the full curriculum on OJJDP’s website [ [link removed] ].

The curriculum is a key component of OJJDP’s Preventing Youth Hate Crimes and Identity-based Bullying Prevention Initiative [ [link removed] ], launched in October 2021. This initiative aims to increase awareness of youth hate crimes and bias-based bullying.
