Routes of Resilience: Memorializing 19th Century Arlington Neighbors

Join The Black Heritage Museum of Arlington, the Arlington Historical Society, and WalkArlington on Saturday, October 26, for a walk in the footsteps of 19^th century free and enslaved Black people who lived along Columbia Pike. We’ll learn about their lives, their struggles, and their great resilience, courage, and strength in the face of adversity. The route also offers a preview of several sites that will be dedicated with bronze markers later this fall, as part of Arlington’s Memorializing the Enslaved in Arlington project.

Pentagon Memorial Walk: A Trail Runs Through It

The 2^nd Annual Tour de Trail: Pentagon Memorial Walk, honoring the heroes of September 11, takes place Saturday, October 5, from 9:00 AM-2:00 PM. The loop route will begin and end at the National Landing Water Park. WalkArlington recently caught up with walk leader Eric Brenner about the 3.5-mile Tour de Trail route to the Pentagon Memorial and its place in the 23-year journey toward establishment of the 9/11 National Memorial Trail.

Mind Your Multimodal Manners - Meet the Corrals

Shared mobility devices like scooters and dockless e-bikes have revolutionized how people in Arlington get around—but if not properly parked, they can be a safety hazard for all modes. To help, Arlington County has installed more than 100 bicycle and scooter parking corrals—mostly on streets—as safe places for people to park scooters and bicycles, upright and out of the way of pedestrians and vehicles.
