Pacific Beach Town Council (PBTC) hosted its 44th Police And Emergency Services Appreciation Night (PAESAN), celebrating the accomplished Officer Jessicamarie Thrift and the “Year of our Northern Division Police Officers.” I join the community and PBTC in thanking and honoring our Northern Division SDPD, RSVP, Fire, Lifeguards, and Parks and Recreation awardees. PAESAN also functions as a fundraiser to provide essential equipment, gear, and supplies for our first responders, ensuring they have the tools needed to carry out their important work effectively and safely. For this year’s recipient, SDPD, over $65K was raised to address their wish list including upgrading the Pacific Beach storefront on Olney.

On Monday, repairs began on the seawall railing at Children’s Pool in La Jolla, following significant damage from past winter storms. The first phase of coring work has now been completed. Next, the City’s General Services Department will take final measurements before installing the new railings. Stay tuned for updates as the restoration of the seawall continues.

The Parks and Recreation Department is restructuring the Community Parks I and II Area Committees. Until the restructuring is complete, one virtual Joint Area Committee meeting will be held per month. Topics will include budget development, recreation center funds, recreation equity, fees and charges, and process improvement. The next meeting will be held on Wednesday, October 9, 2024, at 6:00 PM.

#TEAMLACAVA IN THE DISTRICT

Team LaCava supported I Love A Clean San Diego (ILACDD) and partners Ocean Conservancy and California Coastal Commission at the 40th Annual Coastal Clean Up Day. Thank you, volunteers, for keeping our waterways clean, and thank you, ILACSD for serving as environmental catalysts for 40 years!
