My name is Steve Kerr. You might know me as the head coach of the Golden State Warriors, but that’s not why I’m writing to you today.

I’m writing to you today to talk about how my life was shattered 36 years ago when my father was senselessly shot and killed outside his office.

Before my father was murdered, my life was impenetrable. I thought bad things happened to other people, not me. I thought I was immune to everything, and I thought my family was, too. 

John, it just devastates me every time I read about someone else having a family member shot and killed. But it’s even more devastating to me to see Mitch McConnell allow the Senate to bend to the will of the NRA, refusing to do a single thing to protect the tens of thousands of people killed by gun violence every year.

That’s why I work with Brady – I know that this year we have a real chance to defeat the NRA and their politicians, and I know Brady has a plan to do it. But that plan relies on support from people like you.
