| | | New Liberal Democrat frontbench | Last week, Ed Davey MP appointed a new Lib Dem frontbench to champion the public’s priorities and fight for a Fair Deal.
Daisy Cooper MP, our Deputy Leader, now leads on the Treasury, focussing on the cost of living and clearing up the Conservatives’ economic mess. Helen Morgan MP will champion our plans to save the NHS and fix the social care crisis as Health and Social Care Spokesperson, while Tim Farron MP will address the sewage scandal, continuing on Environment, Food and Rural Affairs.
New MPs stepping up include Lisa Smart for Home Affairs, Calum Miller for Foreign Affairs, and Pippa Heylings for Energy Security and Net Zero. | | | Three of our experienced MPs will also hold powerful positions as select committee chairs, with Layla Moran on Health and Social Care, Alistair Carmichael on Environment, Food and Rural Affairs, and Jamie Stone on Petitions.
Meanwhile, our new MPs continue to make their maiden speeches in the Commons - catch up on them here: | | | You can learn more about all our MPs and follow their social media channels via the following page: | | | | | Protecting pensioners this winter | Earlier this month, the Liberal Democrats voted against the Government’s decision to cut Winter Fuel Payments, which will force many to choose between heating and eating.

Before the vote, Ed Davey MP urged the Government to reconsider during Prime Minister’s Questions: | Watch & Share on: | | | | Black History Month October is Black History Month, a time to celebrate the significant contributions of Black people to British society and deepen our understanding of Black history.
From healthcare workers to educators and emergency services, their impact shapes the country we know today. | | | Since our last update, there have been several principal-authority council by-election wins.
We held off Reform in Swale and won in Newcastle-upon-Tyne, North Norfolk, and Bromsgrove, where we gained a seat from Labour. We had another four wins this week, gaining from the Conservatives in Strathallan, holding a seat in Highland, and holding two more in Barnfield and Wigmore in Luton.
Congratulations to everyone elected and their teams - Lib Dems are winning at every level! | | | Work for Us | We’ve got a wide variety of vacancies - both paid and voluntary - currently available. If you’re keen to contribute in whatever capacity suits you best, we’d love to hear from you! | | | | | Lots of people within our party will be celebrating important holidays over the next month, so we send our warmest wishes to Jewish communities celebrating Rosh Hashanah, Yom Kippur and Sukkot, and Hindu communities celebrating Nivratri and Diwali - we hope these important days bring you all joy, peace and unity.
