Apple Picking IS ON!

When you choose a Minnesota Grown apple, you're not just getting peak freshness and juiciness. *These apples are the best *since many varieties - like the world-renowned Honeycrisp - were designed specifically for our local growing conditions! You can find local apple growers in the Minnesota Grown directory or look for Minnesota Grown at your neighborhood grocery store or farmers' market. 

Want to get outside? *Visiting a pick-your-own orchard [ [link removed] ] offers a perfect fall outing* with fresh air and fun for the whole family, and many orchards also have pumpkins, hayrides, and other activities. Remember, ripening varies across the state, so be sure to check with your local orchard for current picking conditions.

Taste-testing all the different apple varieties is a fun activity to do with all members of your family! *You can also assume the role of an “apple scientist” *and make some interesting observations about the parts of an apple.

Our friends at Minnesota Agriculture in the Classroom [ [link removed] ] shared an activity for kids and families to do at home, along with a *recipe for crock pot applesauce and their favorite picture books about apples!*

Fall Farm Fun: D Round Barn Berries

As the crisp autumn air settles in, farms offer a wonderful opportunity to connect with Minnesota's rich agricultural landscape.
