There are just days left in Childhood Cancer Awareness Month, and we're still short of
meeting our $100,000 goal. Would you pitch in to make sure we can continue to give
lifesaving care to hundreds of thousands of sick and injured kids this year? For every gift
of $35 or more, a CHLA patient will receive a signed copy of "Hi, Juice Box! Juice Box Stays
at the Hospital." This special book, written by best-selling children's book author Drew
Daywalt, introduces the people and places a kid might encounter at the hospital in a fun,
accessible way-produced with insight from a team of clinicians at CHLA.

John,

I'm Dr. James Amatruda, and I'm the Director of the Cancer and Blood Disease Institute at
Children's Hospital Los Angeles. Every day, my team tests new treatments for pediatric
cancers that will one day save kids' lives. I'm writing to you because we need your support
to keep this essential work going.

Our researchers are pioneering new treatments like CAR T-cell therapy, where kids' own
immune cells go to work against their cancer cells. The opposite of a "one size fits all"
strategy, this treatment is individually created for each patient using their own cells. This
breakthrough cancer treatment has resulted in patients with resistant leukemia going into
remission, and the majority remain cancer-free after a year.

CAR-T therapy has been called "the most significant therapeutic advance in childhood
leukemia in a generation," and CHLA is the only center in Southern California approved to
offer this novel therapy for patients with resistant leukemia.

Breakthroughs like CAR-T therapy are made possible by the generous support of this
community. And right now, every dollar you donate TODAY will have double the impact on
advancing cancer care this Childhood Cancer Awareness Month.

Please make a gift of $10 or more by MIDNIGHT, Sept. 30, and your donation will go 2X as far-up to $100,000-to provide critical, lifesaving care for every child in need.

"This therapy offers an alternative to our young patients whose tumors have returned
and who currently lack good therapeutic options," says Shahab Asgharzadeh, MD,
Director of the Neuroblastoma Basic and Translational Program in The Saban Research
Institute at Children's Hospital Los Angeles. "We are taking an already transformational
approach used for blood cancers and modifying it for use in difficult-to-treat solid
cancers."

We are challenging this community to match their support and commitment before
Childhood Cancer Awareness Month ends so we can accomplish even more in the year
ahead, funding clinical trials and fast-tracking more cutting-edge treatments for kids with
cancer.

Every dollar you donate TODAY will have double the impact in advancing lifesaving
research and care for children. And if you're able to give $35 or more, a patient at CHLA
will receive a signed copy of the children's book "Hi, Juice Box! Juice Box Stays at the
Hospital."
