Tomorrow is National Public Lands Day, team! It’s a day to not only celebrate our public lands, but also commit to expanding access to outdoor recreation and education for generations to come.
Here’s a special public lands project we are focused on right now: Imagine a landscape sprawling over 620,000 acres, rich in biodiversity and cultural heritage, located just south of the iconic Joshua Tree National Park -- this is the vision for the Chuckwalla National Monument, but we need your help to make it come true.
We’re calling on President Biden to establish the Chuckwalla National Monument and expand Joshua Tree National Park -- will you sign our petition?

The land we’re trying to protect is brimming with life, from the resilient desert tortoise to the majestic bighorn sheep. It’s also home to the sacred sites of five Indigenous tribes. Chuckwalla National Monument could provide an opportunity for Tribes to co-steward their homelands as partners with federal agencies.
Our public lands should be accessible to everyone -- and the more land we preserve, the easier it is for marginalized communities to take part in celebrating and enjoying our beautiful outdoor spaces.
The proposed expansion is also an opportunity to enhance the resources dedicated to preserving this irreplaceable wild space, aligning with President Biden’s ambitious goal to conserve 30% of America’s lands and waters by 2030.
Biden has already protected more than 41 million acres to date, which puts him on track to conserve more lands and waters than any president in history! He should build on his already-historic conservation legacy by swiftly protecting this landscape.
Sign our petition today urging President Biden to declare Chuckwalla National Monument, protecting the rich biodiversity and history of this land.
