Friend, my mom always encouraged me to run for office.

And after working as a professor, lawyer, and researcher, I have been honoured to serve my community and all Canadians as a Liberal MP.

Growing up in a town of 5,000 people in rural Nova Scotia helped shape my understanding of our country and where I fit in it.

Canada is defined by our highly skilled and innovative workforce, supportive and diverse communities, and our vast natural resources, – and my goal in politics is to help unleash its potential.

That’s why we’re investing in Canadians. From making diabetes medication free, to providing $10-a-day child care and healthy meals for students, to making big polluters pay and putting more money back in Canadians’ pockets, and so much more – we are delivering real progress.

There’s still a lot more work to do, but we can’t do it alone.
