A NOTE FROM CBTU'S EXECUTIVE DIRECTOR
NHL preseason is underway and my beloved Leafs are already lighting it up at 0-2 following two straight losses to arch rival Ottawa Senators. CFL football is also on the final quarter of the year and playoff races are tightening. To top things off I am already eliminated from my NFL survivor pool! Well at least sports offers a distraction to the shenanigans happening on Parliament Hill.

Parliament returned in Ottawa last week, and I’ve been engaging with parliamentarians to maintain strong relationships and advance our agenda, including through the Union Led Advisory Table and other venues where we can achieve results for our members.

In some of my early conversations with ministers, I've begun highlighting the importance of bringing balance back to the temporary foreign worker program, what improved sanitation on jobsites could do for our members, and the vital role the Investment Tax Credits will have on maintaining good middle class jobs in Canada.

Monday marks the National Day for Truth and Reconciliation and it is important to remember and honour Indigenous communities that have felt the impact of the residential school system. CBTU is proud to offer free Indigenous Awareness Training to our members to increase their understanding of Indigenous Peoples, their histories, and cultures. For more details, see here ([link removed]) .

If you're at Tradeswomen Build Nations this weekend in New Orleans, I hope you make a point of saying 'hello'.

All my best,
Sean

The National Construction Labour Relations Alliance of Canada (NCLRA) Conference in Toronto will hear two presentations from CBTU next week. One addressing the legislative changes we are advocating for from government regarding the Temporary Foreign Worker program and Immigration, in addition to a presentation focused on the Investment Tax Credits to highlight how they can be applied and enforced.
Coming Soon - ITC Webinars
Over the coming weeks, CBTU will be rolling out webinars for our provincial and local councils, partners, and community stakeholders to walk them through the ins-and-outs of the Investment Tax Credits.

In the meantime, feel free to check out the new ITC portal on our website ([link removed]) .
New Tightening Measures for Temporary Foreign Worker Program
The previously announced changes ([link removed]) to the Temporary Foreign Worker Program are now in effect. CBTU will continue advocating for additional changes that bring balance back to the program and ensuring that domestic wages are not driven lower by cheap, foreign workers.
