The heartbreaking reality is that for children around the world, the coronavirus pandemic is only one of the challenges endangering their lives and well-being. As Save the Children teams work around the clock to support children whose needs are especially urgent during this crisis, we wanted to share a snapshot of what that work looks like right here in the United States:

Thousands of children in some of Kentucky's poorest rural communities were already facing unimaginable hardships caused by this pandemic when severe rain and wind swept through the state – leaving them quarantined at home without power.

We were already on the ground to make sure children who are out of school get enough to eat and continue learning at home. And in the face of a power outage, their needs became absolutely dire. Our teams mobilized immediately to provide water, nutritious meals, hygiene kits, books and toys to thousands of Kentucky families as quickly as possible.

Rain or shine, in Kentucky and around the world, we will continue to do whatever it takes to help children get through this pandemic. And supporters like you make our lifesaving work possible.
