Happy Friday! This week, Democrats put people over politics and voted to pass a bipartisan funding bill to avoid a government shutdown. Too many people rely on government paychecks, funding, and stability to play political games. I promise to continue delivering for the hardworking people of my district.

Study of Uterine Cancer in Black Women

I'm proud to cosponsor the Uterine Cancer Study Act to address the gap in knowledge between uterine cancer and chemicals in hair straightening products, commonly used by Black women. Black women and our unique experiences have historically been underrepresented in research, leading to adverse health outcomes. We deserve to take care of our hair without being exposed to toxic ingredients.

End Unequal Treatment of Black Girls

A new report unveiled by Congresswoman Ayanna Pressley, Speaker-Emerita Nancy Pelosi, and Congresswoman Rosa DeLauro found that Black girls receive harsher discipline in schools than their peers for similar behaviors. As co-chair of the Congressional Caucus on Black Women and Girls, I will always advocate for the equal treatment of young Black girls who deserve every opportunity to thrive.
