Here’s a stat that sums up Republicans’ laser focus on Michigan: in the last five weeks, Donald Trump has visited Michigan on five separate occasions, including today. That makes eleven total visits to our state since he entered this race.
As you read this, Trump is in Michigan for a two-stop tour that takes him to Walker, Michigan, on the west side of the state, and to Warren, Michigan, in the southeast part of the state.
In the final 39 days of an election, the candidate’s time is the most valuable resource a campaign has, and you can bet that campaign teams don’t just set the schedule willy-nilly.
Each visit generates a surge of volunteer activity, excitement, and media attention, not only for Trump’s candidacy but also for Republicans down the ticket. So the choice of location, venue, and audience is all very much thought-through.
So you can bet that Trump will be here as much as he can in the final 39 days. Because his team knows what we know — Michigan is a must-win in order to secure the presidency and for Republicans to take control of the Senate.
And polls show that the race for the presidency — and our race — are a dead heat.
With voting already underway in Michigan, Trump is parachuting in at every chance he gets. It’s why Republicans are cranking up the attacks against me and other Democratic candidates, and why outside groups are blanketing the state with tens of millions of dollars in TV ads.
Trump and Republicans are doing all they can to maximize the final 39 days. They have turned the urgency dial up to eleven.
So this is the big moment for us. People are casting their votes now, as you read this. And we need to do our best to match and exceed the energy Trump generates for the Republican base in Michigan.
So with that: will you chip in directly to my campaign before Trump wraps up his visit to Michigan later today?
