Car park changes
As work to transform Oldham town centre continues, we’re having to make a couple of changes to some of our council-owned car parks.
The old sports centre car park (off Rock Street) will permanently close from today (Friday 27 September) so works can take place to enable the future development of the land as a site for new town centre homes.
We are also closing a section of the Bradshaw Street car park (behind Summit Up climbing centre) so it can be used as a site compound for the ongoing works taking place to improve streets and public areas around the town centre – including the new garden near Oldham Parish Church and the ongoing works at the former Snipe Inn.
There will still be over 55 parking spaces including five disabled bays at Bradshaw Street.
To separate car park users from site traffic, we will create a new entrance, slightly further down from the existing entrance.
Unfortunately, this means we will have to remove a tree, however we will ensure three more are planted in its place as we landscape new areas of the town centre.
Remedial work started this week and the compound is expected to be fully in place from Monday 7 October.
We’re working hard to regenerate the town centre and apologise for any inconvenience.
There are many alterative car parks nearby and you can find out more at [oldham.gov.uk/parking]([link removed])
