Hello John,
Your voice has made a powerful impact in our Youth Work Changes Lives campaign! Thanks to your support, we’ve delivered nearly 5,000 signed postcards to TDs across Ireland, and the results are already speaking for themselves.
Here’s a snapshot of what’s been achieved so far:
- Meetings with politicians: TDs and Senators have engaged directly with NYCI to discuss the critical importance of youth work and the need for increased funding.
- Parliamentary action: Several TDs have raised questions in the Dáil, putting youth work and youth services funding on the national agenda.
- Letters to the Minister: A number of TDs and Senators, as well as over 500 supporters like you, have written letters to the Minister for Children, Equality, Disability, Integration and Youth, advocating for the €15m increase we’re seeking in Budget 2025.
- Pre-budget event success: 50 Oireachtas members, including 3 current Ministers and 2 former Ministers for Children, attended our Budget 2025 briefing event to hear first-hand from young people why investment in youth work is so important.
- Alternative Party Pre Budget Submissions (as of 26th September with more to be released): Sinn Féin and The Social Democrats have both included our €15m funding ask in their alternative budget proposals.
These actions are a testament to the power of collective advocacy and the importance of your voice in this campaign. Budget 2025 next week is an important milestone, but our work doesn’t end here. We’ll continue to push for sustained investment in youth work and youth issues as we approach the next election, making sure that the needs of Ireland’s young people remain a top priority.
Thank you once again for your commitment and passion. Together, we are making a real difference.
