Dear Reader, 

Americans need information from sources they can trust during the COVID-19 crisis. ProPublica has focused most of our resources on the coronavirus to help fill this critical need and we’re publishing more than ever before. Our investigations, the data crunching, the researching, and the fact-checking all costs money and we need the support of our readers to keep going. Today, we are participating in #GivingTuesdayNow — a new global day of giving and unity as an emergency response to the unprecedented need caused by COVID-19 and I hope you’ll consider contributing to the effort, if you’re able. 

The estate of legendary Broadway publicist Merle Debuskey has donated $50,000 to ProPublica during this crisis  — they are hoping to inspire 600 readers to make matching donations of any amount to ProPublica over the next three days to help us raise a total of $100,000 to pay for critical coverage in this current emergency. 
 
It will take a loyal community of donors to sustain nonprofits like ProPublica during times like these.
