Friend, it’s Senate Majority Leader Chuck Schumer here with an update out of Florida.

Earlier today, we announced that the DSCC — the campaign arm of Senate Democrats — is making a multi-million dollar investment into Debbie Mucarsel-Powell’s race to defeat Rick Scott. This, friend, is a huge deal.

If not, let me explain: You see, Debbie is just 1 point behind her opponent, who had to spend $64 million of his personal fortune to buy this seat in 2018. This time around, though, things are different. Abortion is on the ballot. It’s a presidential election. And Floridians have witnessed for the last six years what a disaster Rick Scott is in the Senate.

Now, we have a real chance to make history and flip a state that Republicans have falsely claimed as their own.

They didn’t think we could flip Arizona, but we did.

They didn’t think we could flip Georgia, but we did.

Now, they don’t think we can flip Florida, but I have faith that we will.

But friend, with just 40 days left until the election, I won’t mince words. Debbie is about to face an even tougher onslaught of attacks from Republicans. It’s not going to be easy to fight back, and it’s certainly not going to be cheap. They’re going to flood the airwaves with misleading ads. They’re going to deploy even more resources on the ground. And they’re going to do everything in their power to destroy our majority and send Rick Scott back to the Senate, where he’s vying to lead their entire caucus.

This is a huge investment, but the fact of the matter is that in a state as large as Florida, it’s simply not enough. That’s why I’m personally reaching out, friend. In order to capitalize on this moment, Debbie’s team launched a $1 million rapid-response goal, but as of 10:45 p.m., they’re falling short ahead of their midnight deadline.
