I never planned to become a politician. For many years, I was a doctor and Chief Medical Officer of Sacramento County. Everything I do as a Representative in Congress comes from hearing my patients’ worries and from respecting science.
The fact is, too many of my colleagues don’t care about science—from climate change and public health emergencies to reproductive health and lowering the cost of health care visits and life-saving medications.
