John, when I ran my first race -- for District Attorney in San Fransisco -- I took three things with me everywhere I went:
An ironing board, a roll of duct tape, and a sign that read:
"Kamala Harris, a voice for justice."
It wasn't glamorous, but it was the perfect setup for getting my message out to voters in front of grocery stores, bus stops, and more.
Perhaps, most importantly: It worked. That November, I was elected for the very first time.
Running for President of the United States is a bit different. Our movement is bigger, we need to reach many more voters across the country, and we’ve certainly upgraded from an ironing board to get out our message.
Two things remain the same: I am still fighting For The People, and I still need grassroots supporters like you by my side to win.
Right now, Donald Trump and his allies are spending millions of dollars on attack ads against me, and the latest polling shows this race is statistically tied. I will continue criss-crossing the country to reach voters -- and that requires significant resources, John.
