Abortion bans put lives at risk. Full stop.
The reality of our country two years after the
Dobbs decision is undeniable. Across the nation, women are being denied emergency care and life-saving treatment, women and families are facing immense hardship as they’re forced to travel great distances in search of care, and the healthcare system is being strained.
Just this month, reports came to light of two Georgia women who died as a result of being denied access to critical reproductive care. How many more women have suffered preventable deaths because of draconian abortion bans, whose names we will never know? We can’t allow this to continue.
When we hear stories like this, and anti-choice Republicans and extremists still try to claim that abortion bans don’t endanger lives, it angers me to no end. The truth is that “pro-life” movement doesn’t care about protecting life, it only cares about exerting control over women’s bodily autonomy.
Frankly, I’m tired of it. I know you are too.
It’s time we federally enshrine reproductive rights into law. We can’t do that without Democratic majorities in Congress and a Democratic White House – and we have less than 6 weeks left to get the job done. Will you pitch in before our last FEC deadline of the election to help me keep fighting for our rights in the Senate?
